Emily P. “Brick” Springmire age 88 of Tiffin died on Sunday, September 29, 2002 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a short illness. Funeral services will be on 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 3, 2002 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin, burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tiffin. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation service in Iowa City. Memorials may be given to the Tiffin 1st Responders, the Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Emily’s services and her family.

Emily was born on August 25, 1914 in rural Johnson County the daughter Horace and Anna Lizner Paul; she attended Tiffin schools and married Ralph Springmire on March 6, 1932 in Albert Lea, Minnesota. She was a wife and mother and for many years worked at the Lark Restaurant in Tiffin. She enjoyed making rag rugs, cooking, gardening, caning, collecting knick-knacks and a good game of euchre. Emily lived in the same house in Tiffin for more then 65 years.

Her family includes a son Paul of Iowa City, two sister in-laws: Virginia Paul of Iowa City and Pat Wolf of Daytona Beach, Florida along with many nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husband, daughter in-law Joyce, two brothers: Dale and Dick Paul, three sisters: Lilly Anderson, Myrtle Thompson and June Mudge preceded her in death.
