Lois Stoner, age 84 of 1215 Lukirk Street, Iowa City, died Friday, July 26, 2002, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 5 to 8pm Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Lois’s memory. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Lois’s services and her family.

She was born June 7, 1918 in Olin, Iowa the daughter of Louis John and Elna Grace (Sanderson) Rohwedder. She graduated from Olin High School, and had attended Cornell College and the Cedar Rapids Business School. On November 30, 1941 she married Jack Stoner in Olin, Iowa. The couple moved to the Iowa City area in 1948 after residing in Olin and Cedar Rapids. Lois worked for Zollers Brewery in Cedar Rapids as a bookkeeper while living in Cedar Rapids, after she and Jack moved to Iowa City she worked for Halls Gift Shop, and for many years in the accounting department of Westinghouse Learning, retiring in 1983. Her husband, Jack died on February 20, 1998.

For those who knew Lois, you will remember her passion for the Iowa Hawkeye Men’s and Ladies Basketball teams, she so loved to watch their games.

Her family includes her daughter, Judy Stone of Iowa City; brother-in-law and his wife, Walter and Kathryn Stoner of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
