Edward J. Sullivan, 83 of 39 Green Mountain Drive, Iowa City, Iowa died Saturday, December 8, 2001 at Atrium Village, Hills, Iowa, following a lengthy illness.

Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 14, 2001 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Iowa City, Iowa with Reverend Kenneth Kuntz and Reverend Joseph Van Phung celebrating. Inurnment will be in the mountains of Colorado at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established with Atrium Village and Iowa City Hospice. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sullivan was born on May 31, 1918 the son of Matthew Frank and Dora Burger Sullivan. He graduated from St. Mary High School in 1936. He was the president and owner of Hills Grain and Feed until his retirement in 1979. He was later a clerk for Lyle Donohue Auctions. He was a member of St. Mary Church, Iowa City. Edward was a charter member and past president of Hills Town and Country Club and also was a lifetime member of Kiwanis and past president of Iowa City Golden “K” Kiwanis.

Edward’s family includes, his wife; Madeline Sullivan of Iowa City, a daughter, Sherry and her husband, Joe Pugh of Iowa City, a son Jerry and his wife, Mary Sullivan of Iowa City, a step-son, Mark Sabbann and his wife Mary Kay of Stillwater, Minnesota, seven grandchildren, Kevin J. Pugh of Powell, Ohio, Michael J. Pugh of Iowa City, Matthew J. Pugh of Iowa City, Sara Maves of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, A.J. Sullivan of Iowa City, Kathryn Tabke of Palatine, Illinois, Lisa Mann of Stillwater, Minnesota and seven great grandchildren, a sister Mary Warren of Cedar Rapids.

Mr. Sullivan was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Donald and Raymond Sullivan.
