Charlotte K (Fisk) Thompson, 71, of 243 Hutchinson Avenue, Iowa City died peacefully Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics surrounded by family and friends after a brief battle with lung cancer. With her in her finals days were her husband George E. "Tommy" Thompson III, sister Nancy F. Ross, brother-in-law Robert J. Ross both of North Bend, Oregon, daughter Tamara K Rinehart, her husband Donald L. and their children Christopher H. and Nicole M. Rinehart, all from Glendale, Arizona, son Stephen E. Thompson and his wife, Molly K. S. Thompson, grandson Michael H. Thompson, granddaughter Stephanie S. Thompson all from Eagle River, Alaska; sisters-in-law, Patricia Eichenberg of Albuquerque, NM, and Phyllis Thompson of Platteville, Wisc. and many close friends.

K was born June 4, 1930 in York, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Henry L. and Ruth (Wilson) Fisk. She was a 1948 graduate of Iowa City City High School and attended the University of Iowa before marrying George E. "Tommy" Thompson III of Cedar Rapids, Iowa on June 6, 1950. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary in Alaska with their children. K was a longtime member of the Old Capital Questers group, sharing knowledge of craftwork, history and antiques. K was a member of Project Green from its inception serving as co-chairman of ground cover; she enjoyed gardening. Her many highly skilled projects in needlework, knitting, macramé, quilting and sewing are worn and displayed prominently by family and friends. She greatly enjoyed her regular attendance and closely followed Hawkeye basketball. Her cheers will be sorely missed.

Her many friends, a number extending from childhood, will miss her warm, cheery, and fun-loving nature. She brightened our lives with her laugh and smile. Her continuous correspondence with friends, children and grandchildren will be always remembered. She truly enjoyed all her many friends and delighted in sharing in their lives.

A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Walter Helms officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7pm Friday at Gay & Ciha Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. Following the Mass at the church a Remembrance Reception will be held to share stories and gather to celebrate her impact in our lives. We love her so very much.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in her name to Men’s Intercollegiate Athletics, c/o University of Iowa Foundation
