Steven Paul Tichy, age 55 of Solon died Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at his home following a extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2002, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Solon with the Reverend’s Rudolph Berndt and Francis Lenoch officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Solon. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm Sunday at the church. Memorial donations can be made in Steve’s memory to the National Kidney Foundation of Iowa or Iowa City Hospice. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City are caring for Steve’s family and his services.

Steve was born October 29, 1946 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Charles W. and Marie (Blazek) Tichy. He graduated from Prairie High School in Cedar Rapids. During Vietnam he served in the United States Navy. On September 2, 1972, he married Kathy Kuhn in Kingsley, Iowa. Steve has worked as a heavy equipment operator and land improvement specialist for Jay Proffitt Construction, Inc. of Solon. Prior to this he was in farming for many years.

His family includes his wife, Kathy; two daughters, Beth and her husband, Joe Wichtendahl of Cedar Rapids, and Amy Tichy of Solon; mother, Marie Tichy of Ely; two brothers, Charles and his wife, Bonnie Tichy of Cedar Rapids, and Rich and his wife, Pam Tichy of Ely; one sister, SuAnn Tichy of Ely.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, and brother, David Tichy.
