Mary Ann Schulze, 91, a resident of Iowa City Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, died Tuesday, January 23, 2007 after a lingering illness.

Services were private. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Iowa City.

Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City is handling arrangements.

Mary was born September 9, 1915 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Frank Szaywa. Mary married Joseph Schulze on March 29, 1937 in Washington, Iowa. She worked in food service, first at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics and later as a baker at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Mary is survived by her daughter Betsy Schulze of Iowa City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Dennis, a sister Stella and a brother Frank
