Edith Mildred Brown, age 90 formerly of Coralville died, Tuesday May 28, 2002 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2002 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7pm Thursdayat the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tiffin. Memorial Fund has been established in her name. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iow City are caring for Edith’s family and her services.

Edith was born January 8, 1912, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Andrew and Christiana (Miller) Pederson. She attended schools in West Branch. On January 1, 1938 she married Gilbert Alfred Brown. She had resided in Coralville for over 32 years. Edith worked as a housekeeper for the University Of Iowa School Of Nursing. She was a member of the Tiffin United Methodist Church in Tiffin.

Edith’s family includes two daughters and their spouses: Marilyn and Robert Comandella of Carter Lake, Iowa and Joan and Thomas Dewey of Iowa City; three grandchildren, Michael and Maria Dewey, and Cinday Comandella; three sisters, Violet Salisbury of Hills, Betty and her husband, Leo Stratton of Oxford and Mary and her husband, Howard Berry of Iowa City; two brothers, Roland Pederson of Hills and Paul and his wife, Loretta Pederson of Iowa City.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert in 1981; and one brother, Irving Pederson, sister, Esther Arn, and a granddaughter, Christi Comandella.
