Betty Bontager Alton, age 75 formerly of Iowa City died March 30, 2002 at a care center in Platte City, MO. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2002 at the Oxford Cemetery with Chaplain Judy Gingerich officiating. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City are caring for Betty’s services and her family.

Betty Bontrager was born July 6, 1926 in Oxford, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd E. and Helene E. (Falls) Bontrager. She graduated from Iowa City City High School in 1942. On January 13, 1944 Betty married Jay M. Alton in Norfolk, VA. She has lived in Oxford, Iowa City, Decatur, IN; Marion, OH; Hixson, TX; Guild, TN; Higdon, AL; and Platte City, MO.

Her family inlcudes a daugher and her husband, Paige and Ron Jackson of Parkville, MO; sons and their wives, Barry and Linda Alton of Higdon, Al, Mike and Diana Alton of Pleasanton, CA; and Ted and Vicki Alton of Fremont, CA; her sister, Darlene Frank of La Puente, CA; twelve grandchildren, and one great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband.
