James “Jim” K. Baumgartner, age 69, of 5107 280th. Street N.E., Iowa City died Friday, September 13, 2002 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City from complications of an abdominal aneurysm.

Family services will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Iowa City Library in Jim’s memory. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Jim’s family and his services.

He was born June 1, 1933, in Des Moines, Iowa the son of Glen and Alma M. (Karel) Baumgartner. He graduated from Des Moines Roosevelt High School, and the University of Iowa. Jim served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. On June 28, 1954, he married Dorothy Ann Jensen at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Des Moines. He has been self-employed as a marketing consultant for many years.

His family includes his wife, Dorothy; daughters, Janet K. Baumgartner of Iowa City, and Christine A and her husband, George Miller of St. Paul, MN; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jack Miller of St. Paul, MN; and one sister, Susan Clark of Lake Oswego, OR.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Jeffrey K. Baumgartner.
