Ruth Laurene Beranek, 77 of 55 S. Plum St., Tipton, Iowa died Tuesday, January 22 at Greenwood Manor, Iowa City following an extended illness. Burial will be in Missouri. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City is caring for her services.

She was born February 6, 1924 in Johnson County to Ray and Lura (Hartsock) Stagg. She attended Springdale, Iowa schools. She married Frederic J. Beranek. He died in 1985. She lived in Springdale, West Branch, and Tipton. Mrs. Beranek worked as a photo technician for the University of Iowa for 23 years retiring in 1986.

Her family includes: her mother, Lura Stagg of Iowa City: a son and his wife, David and Rachel Beranek of La Plata, Missouri; sisters, Margaret Seebeck of Bennett, Iowa, Marilyn Rouner of Iowa City, Kathleen Murray of Arkansas, Mattie Lewis of Linnville, Iowa, Kay Blinks of Marion, Iowa and Carol Ann Neitderhisar of North Liberty, Iowa; and brothers, Billy Stagg of Augusta, GA, Howard Stagg of Cincinnati, Ohio, Leslie Stagg of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Wayne Stagg of Iowa City, and Donald Stagg of Walford, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son Donald W. Beranek; father, a sister, Elsie Sward; and a brother Keith Stagg.
