Francis “Butch” Bixby Jr. age 54, of Oxford died Thursday, August 22, 2002 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 26, 2002 at the Anchored In Faith Gospel Church in Oxford with the Reverend John Hahn officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the Oxford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 6pm Sunday at Gay & Ciha Cremation Service Oxford Chapel. A memorial fund has been established in his memory. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Butch’s services and his family.

Butch was born June 11, 1948 in Richmond, Iowa, the son of Francis A. and Bernice H. (Burkett) Bixby. He served in the Iowa National Guard. He has been employed as a janitor for various businesses in this area throughout his life.

His family includes his mother, Bernice of Homestead; son, Richard Bixby of Des Moines; two daughters, Christina Bixby of Grinnell, and Alicia Scott of Williamsburg; five grandchildren; four brothers, Frankie of Oxford, Frank of Williamsburg, LeRoy of Marshfield, WI, and George of Nellsville, WI; five sisters, Elizabeth Wilcut of Homestead, Judy Bixby of Belle Plaine, Iola Blakley of Floris, IA, Iota Jansen of Ollie, IA, and Martha Joan West of Oxford.

He was preceded in death by his father, and twin sister, Francie Mae Bixby.
