Ruth Irene Kelleher, 96, of Iowa City died Sunday November 5, 2006 at Solon Nursing Care Center.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday November 9 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave, Iowa City. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:30 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to Iowa City Hospice, 1025 Wade Street, Iowa City, IA 52240.

Ruth was born on September 15, 1910 in Iowa City to Chester and Clara Gaulocher Potter. She graduated from City High School in 1928 and then from the University of Iowa in 1932. Ruth married Paul Kelleher on February 26, 1938. Ruth worked at the University of Iowa’s Payroll office for 20 years before retiring in 1978. Ruth was a volunteer at Mercy Hospital and a member of Phi Gamma Nu Sorority. Her interests included dancing, traveling, playing bridge and spending time with grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Judy Slezak of Coralville, five grandchildren; Angela Courtade (Brandon) of Wesley Chapel, FL, Kathleen Slezak and Fiancé Kevin Ropp of North Liberty, IA, Laura Slezak of Wesley Chapel, FL, Patrick Kelleher (Jackie) of Media, PA, Matthew Kelleher (Kim) Glenwood, IA, eight great grandchildren; Blake, Austin, Colton Courtade, Ryan, Lauren, Rachel Kelleher, Jessica and Heather McCowan, and a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Kelleher-Hartnett.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, a son Jim Kelleher, twin sister Ruby Fleming and a brother Carl Potter.
