Robert B. Kasper, 80, of Oxford died peacefully Monday, October 16, 2006 at
Windmill Manor in Coralville.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 20, 2006 at 10am at St. Mary’s Church, Oxford with Rev. Edmond Dunn officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8pm Thursday at the church in Oxford, where a Parish Vigil Service will be held at 7pm. The McPunk Brothers will provide music at the church from 6:30 to 8pm Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Church in Oxford, Iowa City Hospice or the Oxford First Responders. Arrangements are with Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service.

Bob was born October 25, 1925 in Union Township, Johnson County, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Mary Hurt Kasper. He married Margaret Crow on June 5, 1947 at St. Wenceslaus Church in Iowa City.

Bob and Maggie farmed in the Oxford area for many years. He was later employed by Farm Service and the Oxford Sale Barn.

Bob was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Church, the Johnson County Cattlemen Assn. and the Farm Bureau.

Bob and Maggie enjoyed attending the Iowa State Fair. Bob pitched horseshoes with his friends and was an avid gardener, fisherman and hunter. He was a devoted husband and father, and will be greatly missed by his son and daughter-in-law, his brothers and their wives, and his nieces and nephews.

Bob is survived by his son Ed and daughter-in-law Vicki, of Oxford; three brothers,
Glenn (Pat) Kasper of Oxford, Virgil (Darlene) Kasper of Iowa City, and Duane (Mary) Kasper of Iowa City; several nieces and nephews; and his granddogs, Hoss and Louise.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Maggie, and one nephew, Gene Kasper.
