Arthur G. Lorack, 103, of Hills, died Monday, October 16, 2006 at Atrium Village in Hills.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hills with Reverend Ed Fitzpatrick officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City from 4:00 to 7:00 pm with a parish wake service beginning at 4:00 pm. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in rural Hills.

Art was born October 15, 1903 on the family farm south of Riverside, the son of Charles F. & Rose (Fouchek) Lorack. Growing up near Riverside, Art married Cecilia Draker on October 15, 1926 in Hills. He farmed near Riverside until 1949 and for 35 years, was an insurance agent with Farm Bureau from 1949 to 1960 and from 1960 – 1978 operated an insurance office, The Lorack Agency.

After his first wife’s death in 1972, Art married Ruth Wade Alwine in Cedar Rapids on March 3, 1979. Art then moved to Cedar Rapids where the couple resided until moving to Hills in 1990.

Survivors include his wife Ruth of Hills; son, Kenneth (Beverly) Lorack of Columbus City, Iowa, Arlene Cowell of Iowa City, Rita (Francis) Lacina of West Branch and Patricia (Mike) Silvestri of Pleasanton, California; 12 grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Cecilia, a brother Raymond, a sister Doris Lewis, an infant brother Lewis and a granddaughter, Diane Lacina.
