Mary Kathleen “Katy” Seemuth, 74, of 410 N. Clinton Street in Iowa City, died Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at Greenwood Manor in Iowa City after a brief illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10:00 am at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City with Reverend Michael Phillips officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City.
A parish rosary and wake service will begin at 3:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Private burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Mary K. “Katy” Seemuth Memorial Fund.

Katy was born December 16, 1931 in Cascade, Iowa, the daughter of James & Bertilla (Riley) Burke.
Growing up in Iowa City, Katy graduated from St. Patrick High School in Iowa City. She married William J. Seemuth on April 18, 1953 at St. Patrick’s Church in Iowa City.

Katy was a homemaker for many years and was employed at ACT, Regina Elementary School and Creative World Preschool until her retirement in February 2006. She was an avid reader, loved Hawkeye sports, listening to Frank Sinatra and caring for children. Katy was a great listener and had a wonderful Irish wit.

Survivors include her daughters, Kathy Mossman and Mary Anne (Jamie) Milliman, all of Iowa City;
her sons, Mike (Marie) of Hollywood, Florida, Tim (Alice) of Pensacola, Florida,
Dan (Joleen) of Clive, Iowa, Pat (Deb) and Dave (Becky), all of Iowa City;

Grandchildren, Avery and Madilyn Mossman, Kaily and Spenser Johnson, Devin, Taylor, Joshua, Allison and Morgan Seemuth; step – grandchildren, Mackenzie and Kaden Milliman, Mary Hagensick and Mandy Jackson, Tara, Tiffany and Tonya Oakes; and nephews Jack, David and Bill Burke.

Katy was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Cletus Burke.
