"DEATH TAKES MRS. DAVIES
Former School Principal Here Dies at Home of Brother
Word was received here today of the death of Mrs. Alice R. Davies, 87, of 16 West Bloomington Street, Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home of her brother, Robert Raines of Independence, after an illness of several years. Mrs. Davies was prominent in education in Iowa City, having served as principal and instructor in the second ward school here for 34 years. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and of the P. E. O. sisterhood. She was confined to her home here until two weeks ago, when she was removed to the home of her brother. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9 o'clock in Independence, with burial also at Independence (Oakwood Cemetery)."
