Ann Siegel Maurer, 53, of 943 DeForest Avenue, and formerly of Greeley, Iowa,
died Friday, June 16, 2006 at her home surrounded by family, following a courageous battle with breast cancer.Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at 1:30pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Ken Kuntz officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Parish Hall. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8pm at Lensing’s Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Road, Coralville, where a parish rosary will be recited at 4:30pm and a Parish Vigil Service will be held at 7:30pm, and after noon on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, an educational fund has been established for the Maurer children.
Ann was born November 15, 1952 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of John and Dorothy Billmeyer Siegel. Ann was raised in Greeley, Iowa and graduated in 1970 from Manchester High School. She received her bachelors degree in education in 1974 from the University of Northern Iowa. On June 15, 1985 she married Larry Maurer at St. Mathias Church in Muscatine, Iowa.
Ann had taught junior and senior high school in Missouri and in Wilton, Iowa prior to moving to Iowa City in 1985. She was an accountant for the City of Iowa City for over fifteen years.
Ann was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and the Sierra Club.
Ann was an avid reader who enjoyed antique hunting and camping with her family in the Rocky Mountains. Ann was a compassionate and caring person who cherished the
quality time spent with her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.Ann is survived by her husband, Larry and their children, Emily and John, both at home;
her six siblings, David (Jane) Siegel and John (Kelly) Siegel, both of Cedar Rapids; Mary K. Siegel of Williamsburg, VA.; Ruth (James) Johnson of Spokane, WA.; James (Janet) Siegel of Des Moines; and Mark (Rachel) Siegel of Urbandale; her mother-in-law, Pauline Maurer of Wilton; and numerous nieces and nephews.Ann was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Leo Maurer.
