Nancy L. MacDonald, 57, an Iowa City resident of more than 50 years, died Friday, April 7, 2006 at Windmill Pointe in Coralville.

Funeral Services to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 2pm at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mark Martin officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. The family will greet friends after 1pm, Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be directed to the Kenneth MacDonald Scholarship Fund at Park University, 8700 NW River Park Drive, Parkville, MO., 64152. Arrangements are with Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service.

Nancy was born May 12, 1948 in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Kenneth and Margaret Haner MacDonald. She graduated from the University High School in Iowa City and received her B.S. from the University of Iowa in Recreational Therapy. She applied her Recreational Therapy skills to volunteer work at the University Hospital and Clinics where she was recognized as one of few volunteers with over 6000 hours of service.

She was a charter member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church and a member of Four Seasons Garden Club. As the daughter of an Iowa City Noon Lions Club member, she was actively involved in supporting their activities. She was honored to receive a plaque in appreciation for her services to Lion’s International. She was an active crafter who enjoyed tatting, knitting and crocheting for the benefit of organizations around Iowa City. Her knitting skills provided the University Hospital neonatal unit with hundreds of hand-knit caps and booties for newborns.

Nancy is survived by her brother, Donald MacDonald and his wife Barbara of Evergreen, CO.; an aunt, Geneva Schachtschneider, of Morehead, MN.; a nephew, Darin MacDonald of Evergreen, CO.; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
