Daniel P. McGrory, 50, of Iowa City, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 14, from an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 18 at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue in Iowa City. Visitation will be held Saturday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the International Law Journal at the University of Iowa.

Dan was born March 13, 1956, in Cascade, IA, where he grew up. He was married to Nancy Hauserman on May 7, 1988, in Iowa City. Dan received an undergraduate degree and a law degree from the University of Iowa. He worked as an international law attorney for a variety of organizations supporting the creation of democratic legal institutions in developing countries, including Russia, the Republic of Georgia, Serbia, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Dan's greatest joy was his son. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his son, Will of Iowa City; his mother Patricia of Ames, IA; three sisters, Susan McGrory of Long Beach, CA, Carol (Michael) Macomber of Vienna, VA, and Nancy McGrory of Ames, IA; three brothers, Mark of Winona, MN, Mike (Julie) of Ames, IA, and Matt (Jean) of Minneapolis, MN; and eleven nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, William.
