Burial Friday

Harry L. Bremer, 68, prominent Iowa City clothier, who died Thursday at Mercy Hospital following a lingering illness, was buried Friday at Chicago.

Mr. Bremer had been in ill health the past two years. He suffered a stroke in March and had been confined to Mercy Hospital since that time.

He operated Bremer's clothing store here for many years, in partnership with his brother, Joseph, until his brother's death in 1937. The store was sold in 1941.

Surviving are two brothers, Morris, Pontic, Ill. and Arnold of Iowa City; two sisters, Mrs. Goldie Katz of Iowa City and Mrs. Ben Kline of South Africa, and seven nephews and nieces.

Mr. Bremer traveled extensively. In 1929 and 1930 he went to South Africa to visit relatives and at that time purchased two lions which he gave to the City park.

Mr. Bremer was active in Iowa City civic life. A past President of the Chamber of Commerce, he also served as president for several years of the Recreation Center board. His numerous affiliations included charter membership in the University of Iowa chapter of Phi Epsilon Pi fraternity, the Kiwanis club, the Knights of Pythias, the Elks and Moose lodges, and the Masonic order. He was a life member of the Shrine.

His residence here was at 1036 Woodlawn.
