Thanks to all of those who have helped and will be helping at the hog roast and square dance. A special thanks to our friends, Tim and Sharon VanFosson, for allowing Brenda to stay with them this month and for the honor of wearing Sharon's wedding dress today.

We are both very thankful that each of you came today to help us celebrate the love that we have for one another. We really appreciate your friendship and how each of you has, in some way, enriched our lives. We especially would like to thank our parents for the sacrifices they have made to shape us into the man and woman you see today.

The decision that we are making today is obviously very important to both of us. However, some time ago we both made a decision that has affected our lives even more.

Although, both of us had experienced enjoyable lives, there was a time when we both knew that deep down inside there was an unexplained discontentment and a lack of real purpose. We realized that this emptiness was a result of constantly living to please and protect ourselves. After honest reflection, we had to admit that our motivation to do even virtuous things was often either to help us feel better about ourselves or impress other people. We discovered in the Bible that it was our subtle selfishness, our sin, that was separating us from God and the rich and fulfilling life He wanted to give us. The Bible also told us God's solution for our sin: "God took the sinless Christ and poured into Him our sins. Then, in exchange, He poured God's goodness into us!" (II Corinthians, 5:21, Living Bible)

After understanding what Christ had done for us personally, we decided to let Him come into our lives and be the center of them. Since then, Christ has given us the peace, fulfillment, and purpose that we had been looking for. The miraculous transformation that has taken place in our lives is only one way in which Jesus Christ has proved to us that He really is alive. We hope you will let Christ touch you today with the sincerity and reality of His commitment and concern for you.
Kurt and Brenda
