Dear Jim:
As the old retired corresp secy for Jefferson Co Iowa - I have something I would like to add for history sake. The first family to come to Jeff. Co was the Samuel E. family in l845. They settled in far southwest part of the county. This is not near Buchanan township where your Mitchell E. settled. All these early E. are buried in the Dunkard Cemetery, also know as the Brethren Cem. They all came from Lancaster Co Pennsylvania - Dunkards are German Baptists - and one of the men who died in Lancaster Pa is Martin E. who died in l808 and had l3 children.

There is just one Eshelman family as far as I know in the county NOW 2005. He is retired namely: Alva Eshelman 2041 Vetch Blvd. Lockridge, Iowa 52635 phone 3l9-696-2478
I have no idea who his parents or grandparents are however.
Good luck...........Verda Baird
