Rachel (Deckard) Essary Ollom
November 18, 1881 ---- May 28, 1965
ELDON, Iowa — Mrs. Rachel Essary Ollom, 83, died today at 7 a.m. at Jefferson Square Manor in Ottumwa, where she had been a patient 10 days. She was born Nov. 18, 1881, in Douglas County, Mo., the daughter of John and Emma Deckard. She had lived in the Eldon community 49 years. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Eldon. She was married July 25, 1898, to James L. Essary. He died in 1945. She was married to Charles Ollom Jan. 19, 1952. He died in 1981. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Floyd Lyon of Fairfield; seven sons, John Essary of Ottumwa, Harve Essary of McClurg, Mo.; Matt, Randolph and Albert Essary, all of Eldon; Harley Essary of Batavia and Richard Essary of Davenport; seven stepchildren; 43 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death in addition to her husbands was one son. The service will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral Home in Eldon. The Rev. Clinton Spilman will officiate. Burial will be in Eldon Cemetery.
