Just came across your post from 2003 (copied below), and wondered whether you would still be willing to send information on the Samuel Harris mentioned below.

I'm descended from the Samuel Harris who was born in 1762 in Dutchess county, and who married Elizabeth Van Cleave (not Witt) in 1784 in Lincoln County Kentucky, and who died on February 20, 1852 at the Pleasant Hill Shaker Community in Mercer County, Kentucky.

It seems that the two Samuels have been confused, understandably given so many similarities.

My Samuel was the son of Daniel Harris and Elizabeth Demaree.

Would like to determine if there is a connection between the two men, although if the Samuel who died in Jefferson County, IN really had 22 children, he sounds more like the son of Christopher Harris and Mary McCord.

Hello researcher:

As corresp secy for Jefferson Co Genie Society I can tell you that Samuel Harris is buried in the Union Cemetery, rural Jefferson County. He supposedly had 22 kids, unproven, but we have considerable data on him, plus names of many who have been working on him the past 27 years that I have answered letters.

For $2.50 to run to the library, plus $. 25 cents per page, plus long SASE, I would copy those two sheets which will give names of who else is snooping into old Samuel.

Most important, which child are you descended from of Samuel? I probably have a family sheet on them too.

If you e.mail me back, I will not be at this computer for probably one week as we are harvesting and I haul all the corn and soybeans down the road (tractor and wagons) and will not be answering right quick like.

Bye now. VB
