I got up from this library computer and walked back to the genie dept shelves for the book l839-1879 marriages of Jefferson County.

Moffett Emily Ann married l852 to Stephen Day
Moffitt Jonathan C l Jun l873 to Ada Metzler
and William MOFFITT to Mary Jane Hadley 9 Apr l863, then a James Joffet... l854 to Harriet Russell and Caroline Moffet to Augustus Case in l866

Looks like a dead end. Were they Quakers? Kinda sounds like it anyway. Better try Henry County next or maybe Washington County?
