Jane Ann ARMSTRONG, born Jan. 12, 1837, near Chambersburg, Franklin Co., Pa., died Sept. 11, 1918, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. I. M. BOWERS near Libertyville, Jefferson County, age 81-7-29.

At age 17 she came with her parents to Knox Co., Ill.; married Feb. 26, 1861, to D. H. STEWART, and they came to their home near Batavia, Jefferson Co., Iowa. Husband died Mar. 22, 1896.

Eight children, seven living: James A. of Libertyville; Harrison H. of Wichita, Kan.; Mrs. Mary E. PUMPHREY of near Eldon; Mrs. Elizabeth STULL of near County Line; Mrs. Agnes GOFF, Chillicothe. Abbie died at age 2 years.

Deceased leaves 39 grandchildren, 32 of whom are living; 12 grgrchn, of which 11 are living; two sisters: Mrs. Rebecca WOODS of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Mrs. Mary HOYT, Hebron, Neb. Four brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Member Presbyterian Church... Batavia Cemetery.
