Mrs. Nellie May SKIRVIN, long-time resident of Jefferson and Van Buren counties, passed away at 4:56 a.m. today at the home of her sister, Carrie COPELAND, 602 N. Third, where she had made her home for the past three months.

Last rites will be Thursday, Jan. 21, at 1:30 p.m. at the Birmingham Methodist church with the Rev. A. R. McMurrin in charge. The body is at the Burch Funeral home in Birmingham.

Mrs. Nellie May SKIRVIN, 78, was born Nov. 7, 1881, in Jefferson county, the daugther of William and Matilda Huff COPELAND. On. Jan. 23, 1907, she was married to Rawley B. SKIRVIN, who preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1950.

Mrs. SKIRVIN, a member of the United Baptist church at Competine, lived her entire life in this area including Jefferson, Wapello and Van Buren counties except for six years in Kansas when a small child.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ruth ORRIS, Hedrick, five sons, Leonard, Lewis, and Mervin all of Fairfield, and Edwin and Darrel, Birmingham. Survivors also include her sister, Carrie COPELAND, Fairfield, and five grandchildren.

Mrs. SKIRVIN was preceded in death by an infant daughter, one sister and three brothers.
