Lewis S. SHEPHERD, born Feb. 4, 1842, Middlesex Co., Conn., died Jan. 11, 1916, aged 73-11-7. Pvt. Co. B, 22nd Conn. Vol. Inf. in 1863. Soon after the close of the war he came to Madison Co., Ill., where he married Mrs. Harriet A. PAYNE June 27, 1867. She died in Jan. 1900.

Three children: Anna at home; Mrs. Ella PARKER and Mrs. Edda PARKER... In 1869 moved to the farm in Wapello Co., Iowa. Member Methodist Church; Kilwinning Lodge AF & AM, Batavia.... Batavia Cemetery.
