Lewis W. SHAW was born in Ohio Dec. 2, 1839, died at his home in Batavia Sat., June 12, 1920, age 80-6-10.

Came to Iowa with his parents in 1843. Enlisted in Civil War, Co. E, 17 IVI, in Mar., 1862, and served until the close of the war. Married Anna M. BROWN of Batavia Nov. 22, 1868.

Four children, Nellie, Mary, Luella and William. Wife and all the children except Luella NOE preceded him in death. Survived by one daughter, Mrs. Luella NOE of Melrose, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, two brothers, Thos. of Ottumwa and Jacob of Batavia. Methodist.
