Joseph PARRETT was born at Fayetteville, Ohio, Nov. 6, 1842; died Apr. 4, 1924, age 81-5-2.

At the age of nine years he and his parents drove through to Jefferson County, Iowa, with an ox team. Dec. 11, 1863, married Mary ORNDUFF who died Feb. 26, 1894.

Eleven children: nine survive, with 24 grandchildren and 9 grgrchn. Children: Hillis O., Death Valley Junction, Calif.; William E., Denver. Colo.; John D., Floris, Iowa; E.A. of Elmer, Mo.; Dr. Russell B. PARRETT, Kansas City, Mo.; Guy H., Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Ona BENNETT, Walla Walla, Washington; Mrs. Ada WELLS, Claremont, Va., and Mrs. Anna MULDOON, R.#4, Ottumwa, Iowa, with whom the deceased had made his home for the last 16 years, and one brother, C. L. PARRETT of Fairfield, Iowa. Deceased was a veteran of the Civil War, having served with Co. F, Third Iowa Cavalry, three years, discharged on account of physical disability. Member Kilwinning Lodge No. 198 A.F. & A.M., of Batavia for the last 53 years...

Funeral 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Christian Church, Batavia, Rev. John A. Brown in charge. Interment in the Batavia Cemetery with the Masons in charge at the grave.
