James Templeton McDOWELL, resident of Jefferson County since 1843, part of this time in Fairfield, died at the home of a son, J. W. McDOWELL near Batavia 3d inst.

Native of Park Co., Ind., born Dec. 15, 1823; married Permelia J. MAY Jan. 29, 1847 and the wife died many years ago.

Seven children, four living -- Mrs. T. F. JONES, Boulder, Col.; Mrs. Mary A. SMITH, Hedrick; Aden McDOWELL, Agency, and J.W. in this county. Upright character. Bladensburg Cemetery.
