Services at Hoskins Funeral Home Saturday afternoon, 2 o'clock
Mrs. J. A. GURWELL, 70, passed away at 6 o'clock Tuesday evening at her home, 611 West Adams St. Mrs. GURWELL had been in her usual health until a week ago, and had been seriously ill only since Monday evening.
Funeral services will be held at the Hoskins Funeral Home Saturday afternoon at 2 oclock, in charge of Rev. E. A. Piper. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Ada A. GURWELL was born September 1, 1870, in Jefferson county. She had lived in Batavia until twenty years ago, when she moved to Fairfield. Surviving are her husband, J. A. GURWELL; one daughter, Mrs. Earl FORNEY of Fairfield; one step-daughter, Mrs. F. M. KENT of Booneville, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Arta GARDNER of Omaha, Nebr., and Mrs. Lora WILSON of Denver, Colo.; one granddaughter, Maxine FORNEY of Fairfield; and four step grandchildren. One brother, Charles LAMTHEAR (sic - LANPHEAR), preceded her in death twelve years ago.

Ada Ann LANPHEAR daughter of Ora and Catherine LANPHEAR was born in Batavia, Iowa, Sept. 1, 1870 and departed this life May 14, 1940 at the age of 69 years, 8 months and 13 days.
She was united in marriage to Jonas A. GURWELL, Oct. 21, 1902 and to this union was born one daughter.
Mrs. GURWELL spent her entire life in Jefferson county, and the past twenty years has made her home here.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Earl FORNEY of Fairfield, Iowa; one granddaughter, Maxine FORNEY, one step-daughter, Mrs. E. M. KENT of Boonville, Mo.; and four step-grandchildren, also three great-grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Arta GARDNER of Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. Lora WILSON of Denver, Colo.; as well as a host of friends who will greatly miss her.
A brother Charlie LANPHEAR preceded her in death ten years ago.
Mrs. GURWELL was a kind and loving mother, a helpful companion and a true friend. She was always more than willing to extend a kind and loving hand to those in need. She wil be greatly missed by all who know her for to know her was to love her.
L. A. Peebler, Bernard Peebler, Floyd Peebler, Glen Peebler, Arvel James and Clifford Parker acted as pallbearers.
Interment was made in the Evergreen cemetery.
