DEATH TAKES J. A. GURWELL

Jonas A. GURWELL, 89, resident of Fairfield for 60 years, passed away at 3:15 p.m. Thursday afternoon at the Luella Jones nursing home. He had been in his usual health until the past week and suffered a heart attack less than an hour before his death.

Mr. GURWELL's home was at 611 W. Adams street, but he had made his residence at the nursing home since last November.

Last rites will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home with Dr. E. A. Piper in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. GURWELL was born November 13, 1858, in Ohio, the son of the late Cyrus and Margaret SKELLY GURWELL. He moved to Fairfield 60 years ago and had been a resident of this community since. His wife preceded him in death May 14, 1940.

He is survived by two children, Mrs. E. M. KENT, Booneville, Missouri; and Mrs. Earl FORNEY, Fairfield. Five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive.

Note: Buried in Lot 2nd.177 with second wife Ada Ann LANPHEAR GURWELL. His first wife was Henrietta FILSON who died in 1893.
