Mr. Ora LANPHEAR was born in the state of Ohio Jan. 26, 1844; died at the home of his son Charles E. LANPHEAR in Parma, Idaho, Feb. 12, 1922, age 78 y. 16 d.
Came with his parents to Iowa in the fall of 1850. They settled on the home place near Batavia, where Elmer PETERSON now lives. Here he made his home until about 18 years ago. He lived in Batavia a few years after which he moved to Fairfield. About one year ago he went home with his son Charles to Idaho where he passed away.
Married Catherine MATTINGLY Feb. 20, 1868. Six children, two died in infancy, Effie and Orrin. Living: Mrs. Anna GARDNER of Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. Ada GURWELL of Fairfield, Iowa; Charles E. of Parma, Idaho; Mrs. Iona WILHOIT (?) of Billings, Mont., five grandchildren. One grandson, Corporal Guy E. ELDER died in the service in France.
Funeral in the M.E. Church in Batavia. Burial in the old cemetery beside his wife who died Feb. 4, 1909.
