BATAVIA, Ia. June 22---Last rites will be Friday afternoon at the Batavia Methodist church for Mrs. Henry KOONS, well known Batavia resident who passed away at her home Wednesday morning.
The services will be at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Earl Erb in charge, assisted by Rev. S. P. Williamson of Fairfield. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery at Fairfield.
The body will be taken from the Campbell funeral home in Eldon to the family home in Batavia at 5 p.m. today. Tomorrow, the day of the services, the body will be taken to the church at 1:30 p.m. where it will lie in state for one hour before the services.
Mrs. Anna E. KOONS, 83, passed away at her home in Batavia Wednesday morning after being in poor health for three years and seriously ill the past five months.
She was born in Brookville, Indiana, on June 5, 1867, and moved to Batavia when she was nine years old. She had lived the rest of her life in this community except for three years she spent in Boulder, Colorado.
A well known resident of this community, she had been a member of the Batavia Christian church for 53 years, a member of the O.E.S. at Batavia and the Royal Neighbors.
She was united in marriage on April 28, 1890, to Henry KOONS who preceded his wife in death in 1943. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Grace, who passed away in 1944, and two grandchildren.
Mrs. KOONS is survived by a son, Verner D. KOONS, Britt, Iowa and three daughters, Mrs. Ralph SUTHERLIN, Fairfield; and Mrs. Leonard FRESCOLN and Mrs. Floyd HARMON, both of Eldon.
