Frank PACHA, Sr., who has been a resident of East Pleasant Plain more than fifty years, passed away at his home Monday evening, December 12th after an illness of two weeks.
Mr. PACHA was born in Bohemia Europe, Jan. 2, 1845, and came to this country with his parents in the year 1853 and lived in Michigan until the year 1875 when with his wife and one child he moved to the Pleasant Plain community where he resided until his death.
On Nov. 2, 1872, he was united in marriage to Mary BENDA. To this union thirteen children were born. Sister Mary WALTRUDE, Washington, Ia., Mrs. P. H. KURTZ, Pleasant Plain, Joseph P. and Frank, Richland; John J., Brighton, Ia., Mrs. John KOSMAN, Perlee, Albert, East Pleasant Plain and Mary and Martha at home. Four sons preceded him in ndeath (sic).
Besides his wife and children he is survived by twenty-two grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Albert PACHA, Mrs. Catharine TRISKA, Mrs. John PECENKA and Mrs. Ignatus KLECAN of Hanover, Kans., Joseph PACHA, Marysville, Kans., and John PACHA, Payette, Idaho.
Funeral services were held from St. Joseph’s Catholic church Thursday morning at 10 oclock. Rev. Francis GELSKI, a nephew of the deceased, offered the High Mass, and in the Sanctuary besides the pastor, Rev. J. H. Courtney were Father Walsh of Ottumwa, who preached the sermon, and Father McGuire of Washington.
He was laid to rest in St. Joseph’s cemetery. His four sons and two sons-in-law acted as pall bearers.
