COUNTY CORRESPONDENCE. On Friday, Nov. 14, occurred the death of John STANSBERRY, one of Batavia’s most respected citizens. He was in his 88th year…..He came to Iowa from Indiana in 1852, and engaged in milling and farming. He was twice married and was the father of 21 children. He was a devoted member of the M. E. church for more than 60 years. Methodist preachers always found a home in his house…..Most of the children living, with many friends and neighbors, were present at the funeral services Nov. 16. His body was interred in the grave yard four miles southeast of Batavia by the side of his wife, who had preceded him to the tomb two years before.
