LIBERTYVILLE – Margaret Brown was born in Mercer County, Pa., July 9th, 1824, and died at her home in Des Moines township May 4th. Her maiden name was SHIPLER, and she was about sixteen years of age when she left her native state with her parents for Jefferson County, Iowa. They settled in Des Moines Township in 1840, and in 1844, on the 15th of October, she was in marriage to Robert B. JAMISON (sic - JAMESON). Five children were born of this union, two of whom still survive, a son and a daughter. Her husband died September 30th, 1853, at Libertyville. May 29th, 1856, she was married to John U. BROWN, with whom she lived about thirty-four years and then became a widow the second time. She and her daughter remained at the old home until death closed her earthly history. She had been in feeble health for some time, but her last illness was about two weeks in duration. Mrs. BROWN became a Christian about forty-three years ago and united with the M. E. church at Libertyville. She was steadfast in her faith and her Christian life has left its impress upon her children and a circle of her intimate friends. The funeral was conducted by Rev. C. Springer at the Dunkard church. There was a very large concourse of people in attendance. The surviving son and daughter have the deepest sympathy of their numerous friends in the community.
