D. W. CAVINESS DEAD.

Daniel W. CAVINESS, a pioneer and respected citizen of Jefferson county suddenly passed away on Wednesday, March 25th, at 2:30 a.m. Mr. CAVINESS was born in Indiana, June 9, 1846 , and was 67 years 8 months and 19 days old at time of his death.

January 23, 1865, he enlisted in the U. S. Army and was a private in Co. A, Second Iowa Cavalry. He wad honorably discharged at he close of he civil war. On December 18, 1867 the at age of21 (sic), he was married to Miss Elizabeth GALLAGHER of Fairfield.

The members of George Strong Post, G. A. R., will probably attend the funeral of Mr .CAVINESS, which will beheld at Batavia ,probably on Sunday (sic).

Note: Daniel was a son of Kirby & Esther OSBORNE CAVINESS. Burial was in Batavia Cemetery. Wife Elizabeth died in 1922 and is buried with him.
