DEATH OF MRS. SARAH McCLEARY at her home in Des Moines township, Friday morning Apr. 10, 1896, at 10 o’clock. Sarah Whitmore was born in Coshocton County, Ohio, Nov. 30, 1824. In 1842 with her parents, she emigrated to Iowa and settled in Locust Grove Twp., this county. She was married to Joseph Kail (Cale) in 1844. Three children were born of this union, two of whom are dead. Having lost her husband, in 1854 she was married to Benjamin McCleary. Eight children were born to them, four sons and four daughters, all of whom have grown to manhood and womanhood. All the children are married except one son, who resided at home with his mother. This good woman’s residence here dated back over half a century and there are many incidents in her life which are interwoven with the history of the county. Methodist church…..Remains interred in the Sand Hill Cemetery.
