DEATH OF ANDREW SMITH.

Rev. Andrew SMITH, an old and widely known resident of Locust Grove Township. died at his home on the 19th inst., after an illness of several months. Mr. SMITH was born in Indiana September 9th, 1820, and in childhood removed with his father's family to Morgan County, Ill. He came to Iowa in 1838, living in Des Moines Counnty for several years, and to Jefferson County in 1846. December 31st, 1844, he was married to Sarah FLEENOR, who died March 5th, 1855. He was afterwards married to Minerva A. SMITH, who survives him. Mr. SMITH was the father of nine children, all of whom are living. In the western portion of this county for nearly half a century past there haave been few men with a wider acquaintance than Mr. SMITH. For a number of years he has been a local preacher in the Methodist church.....

Note: Buried in Gantz Cemetery with both his wives, Minerva dying in 1913.
