MRS. HUGLIN IS LAID TO REST
Funeral Services for Well-known Women Held On Friday

Mrs. Clara Lenore HUGLIN, wife of Atty. John A. HUGLIN, was laid to rest Friday afternoon in the Evergreen cemetery here. Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian church in charge of Dr. Gilbert Voorhies.

Dr. Voorhies took as his text the 12th verse of the 38th chapter of Isaiah, which says in part, "I have rolled up, like a weaver my life." He compared life to a tapestry, a continuous weaving of character done with material furnished to us; a tapestry woven from the reverse side in a tanglement of threads, only to see its beauty when cut from the loom.

He said in part:

"In the passing of Mrs. HUGLIN the community suffers a great loss. Her interest, and participation in community affairs were such a nature that she will be greatly missed. As a Christian woman she was consistant; and as a member of the church she was faithful, identified with all phases of church work, through the Sunday school and the ladies organizations. She gave much of her time and used her splendid talent efficiently. Her beautiful life of friendly helpfulness and steadfast faith and unswerving loyalty will be a blessed memory and inspiration to her husband, and sons, and to all of us."

A quartet, consisting of Prof. Carl G. Melander, Mrs. Arthur F. Greef, Miss Martha Wise, and Dr. Harold T. Smith, accompanied by Miss Christine McDonald, sang two numbers, "Under His Wings" and "Son of My Soul."

The church was filled with her many friends, and there (sic) many beautiful floral tributes.

The body was taken to the church from the family home at 1:30 where it was viewed by friends prior to the service.

The pall bearers were Fred D. Mason, Dr. R. A. McGuire, T. F. McNew, C. W. Wade, W. S. Follen, and Dr. Ray Kirkpatrick.

The Campbell funeral directors were in charge.

Mrs. HUGLIN was born in Rippey, Ia., May 20, 1880. She was graduated from High school, and later from the Iowa State Teachers college. She taught school for several years following her graduation, and June 28, 1905 she was united in marriage to Atty. John A. HUGLIN. She lived in Fairfield throughout her married life.

Mrs. HUGLIN was the mother of three sons, all of whom were graduated from the Fairfield High school. The youngest son, Henry, is a cadet at West Point, the other two sons having been previously graduated from the academy.

She is survived by her husband and the following sons:

Harold Q., 27 a First Lieutenant in the U. S. Air Service, stationed at Langley Field, Va.

Harvey P., 24, a second Lieutenant in the U. S. Air Service, stationed at Barnsdale flying field La.

Henry C. 19, a cadet in the U. S. Military Academy, West Point, N. Y.

Twenty-three years ago, in 1912, Mr. and Mrs, HUGLIN moved to their suburban home near Chautauqua park here, and the beautiful dwelling has since been the family home.

Mrs. HUGLIN was active in many circles and clubs during the time she lived in Fairfield. She was a faithful member of the Presbyterian church, the Presbyterian Ladies Auxiliary, the Westminster Bible class, the Presbyterian Missionary society, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Garden club, the Fancy Work circle, and the Parsons college Auxiliary. She was also one of the very active women in politics in this county, and was deeply interested in Women's club work.

The last 15 years she was associated with her husband in his law office here.

Mrs. HUGLIN passed away at her home Tuesday, March 5, 1935 at 11:00 a.m. Her husband, Dr. Voorhies ,and (sic) others at her bedside.

The end came quietly and peacefully after an illness of four weeks with heart trouble.

Her three sons were located after a number of messages had been sent. Harold was in Virginia, Harvey in Kentucky, and Henry in New York. They arrived by air, train, and auto, to attend the services.

Other relatives present for the services were, Mr. and Mrs. O. E. HUGLIN, and daughter Elizabeth, G. G. HUGLIN, Miss Ida HUGLIN, Mrs. Harvey P. HUGLIN, Mrs. David TALBOT, and Mrs. John KOCH.
