Eleanor Mae Thrane
November 14, 2005Eleanor Mae Thrane, age 92, of Council Bluffs, passed away at Bethany Lutheran Home, November 10, 2005, following a short illness.
She was born in Council Bluffs, June 9, 1913 to Charles M. and Stella M. (Clark) Griffith and graduated from Tech High School in Omaha in 1932.
Eleanor was preceded in death by husbands, Louis E. Gaines, affiliated with Dexter Washing Machine Company, Fairfield, IA; W. Rex Robinson, owner/operator of Band Box Cleaners, Council Bluffs and Roger C. Thrane, World Insurance & artist, Council Bluffs.
She is survived by two daughters Janyce Beal, husband Clark, Omaha, NE and Barbara Richardson, husband Floyd, Council Bluffs, IA and one step-son, James R. Thrane, teacher & wife Ann of Glenwood, IA. Grandsons Mark Beal, wife Carol, Colorado Springs, CO., Michael Beal, wife Barbara, LaVista, NE, Russell Beal, wife Colleen, Omaha, NE, Kevin Clouser, Council Bluffs, IA. Granddaughters Lynette Currier, husband Tom, Lynnwood, WA and Deborah Quadhamer, husband Rex, Omaha, NE. Step grandchildren Rick Richardson, wife Pamela, Mitchael Richardson, wife Patricia, Rhonda Blair, husband Ken and Michelle Divis, husband Jeff all of Council Bluffs. 13 Great-grandchildren and 8 step great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and 6 step great-great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Eleanor was a business owner and enjoyed playing golf. She belonged to EKNAD Dance Club, a former member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church & current member of Saint John Lutheran Church, Mary Circle and WELCA Women's group of the church.
Visitation was Sunday at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Chapel from 4-6 p.m. Funeral service was today, Monday at 10 a.m., at Saint John Lutheran Church, 633 Willow Ave, with Rev. E. Jon Benson officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Omaha.
Memorials may be offered to Saint John Lutheran Church.
