Marjorie B. Spilman
November 11, 2005Marjorie B. Spilman, 85, of Fairfield, died at 2:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at Jefferson County Hospital, Fairfield.
She was born Nov. 23, 1919, at Excelsior Springs, Mo., to Don and Margarette Cox Whiting. She married Don W. Spilman Jan. 10, 1938, at Rockwell City. He died Dec. 27, 1972.
She grew up in LeMars and Corning and graduated from Corning High School. She and her husband farmed near Selma and moved to Fairfield in the early 1960s. She had worked at Universal Producing Co. and O'Dell Laundry, both in Fairfield.
Surviving are a daughter, Sandra Plowman and a son, Floyd Spilman, both of Fairfield; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a step-great-great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews; one brother, Clinton Crosier (Connie) of Slidell, La.; and a sister-in-law, Madeline Baker of Douds.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and stepfather, Floyd Crosier; a son, Frank Spilman; a grandson, David M. Plowman; a great-great-grandson, Adrian Doty; and a brother, Ian Whiting.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Len Garrison officiating. Cremation will follow the service, with private burial of cremains in Iowaville Cemetery in Selma.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 3-5 p.m. Sunday. Memorials to a charity of the donor's choice may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 1300 W. Jackson Ave., No. 8, Fairfield 52556.
