RITES MONDAY FOR RETIRED BUSINESSMAN

William P. HOLCOMB, retired Fairfield businessman, passed away at his home, 103 West Washington street, early this morning. His death came at 7:15 a.m. after a serious illness of more than a year. He had been in failing health the past three years.

Before his retirement Mr. HOLCOMB had operated a garage and auto parts business in Fairfield for 38 years. He has been a resident of this community for 40 years and well known by local residents.

Last rites will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Hoskins funeral home with Dr. L. L. Weis in charge. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery.

William P. HOLCOMB, 64, was born June 22, 1885, at Kankakee, Illinois, the son of the late W. B. and Margaret WORRELL HOLCOMB. He was united in marriage on November 7, 1907 to Elsie STANSBERRY who survives. The wedding took place at Fairfield.

Mr. HOLCOMB was a member of the Methodist church, and was interested in community affairs until his health forced him to retire.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Frances Pearl HOLCOMB, Des Moines; and the following brothers: John HOLCOMB, Fresno, Calif.; Frank HOLCOMB, Pontiac, Mich.; Harold HOLCOMB, Los Angeles, Calif. and Claude HOLCOMB, Pontiac, Mich.

Out Of Town Relatives Here For HOLCOMB Rites

Among those from out of town attending the funeral of William HOLCOMB were his daughter Pearl of Des Moines who is remaining with her mother this week; his two brothers, Frank HOLCOMB of Pontiac and Claude of Keego Harbor, Mich.; sister of Mrs. HOLCOMB, Mr. and Mrs. Ray GIFT and Mrs. Irene DYER of Ottumwa; her brother, Mr. and Mrs. H. B. STANSBERRY, Chariton; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Heston, Mineral, Ia.; and the following from Des Moines: Mildred Snyder, Patricia Pedersen, Win Graff, A. J. Petit, Marilyn Corlew, and Roine Duncan.

Mrs. Frank HOLCOMB, well known here, was unable to attend. She returned to her home in Pontiac Saturday after undergoing an operation in Detroit hospital. She is reported getting along satisfactorily. Mrs. HOLCOMB is leaving Sunday with her daughter to spend a few days in Des Moines.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN,
that the undersigned has been duly appointed and qualified as Executrix of the estate of William P. HOLCOMB deceased, late of Jefferson County. All persons indebted to said estate are required to make immediate payment and those having claims against the same will present them within legal time, duly authenticated, to the undersigned, for allowance and file in the office of the Clerk of the District Court.
