FAIRFIELD -- Rex R. HICKS, 57, of Fairfield died Oct. 9, 1988, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa city (note: in Johnson Co., IA).
He was born April 26, 1931, in Fairfield to Boyd and Gladys SHAFER HICKS. He was a mail carrier for 38 years until retiring Jan. 2, 1988. He was a member of Suburban Heights Baptist Church and had served in the U.S. Air Force. He married Joann SCHULTZ Dec. 13, 1952, in Fairfield.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Rex E. of Keokuk, Calvin of Long Beach, Calif., and Daniel of Tama; a daughter, Linda SISSON of Grinnell; nine grandchildren; and a brother, Roger of Champaign, Ill.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, JoAnn.
The service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Suburban Heights Baptist Church in Fairfield, the Rev. Ed Parker officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Family visitation wil be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Memorials have been established to his church and the American Cancer Society.
