Jordan Dane Smith, 17, of Fairfield died at 7:53 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, at University Hospital, Iowa City from injuries suffered in an auto accident on Pleasant Plain Road northeast of Fairfield earlier in the evening. He was born Aug. 8, 1988, in Fairfield to Kristina Lee Carr Smith and Lawrence Martin Smith, Jr. and lived his life in the Libertyville-Fairfield area. He was a Senior at Fairfield High School where he was active in wrestling and cross country. He was a mentor for elementary students and participated in band his first three years in high school. He attended American Legion Boys State in 2005 as a delegate from John Hyson Reneker Post No. 494, Douds. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Fairfield and the Iowa Army National Guard, 224th Division Headquarters Co., Fairfield. He had been employed at Fairfield Hy-Vee and Cambridge Investment Research Inc., Fairfield.

Jordan left a distinct imprint on the lives of everyone he touched who continue to celebrate his influence on their lives and cherish his memory, including his mother and sister Ashley Elizabeth, grandparents, Carl and Carol Carr, Uncle Rob, Aunt Tara and cousins C.D and Kaitlynn Carr, numerous great aunts and great uncles and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2005, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Fairfield, Father Stephen Page officiating. Burial with military rites by the Iowa Army National Guard will be in Leando Cemetery, Douds. Visitation will open at noon Monday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds with family present 2-5 and 6-9. Open visitation also will be held from 11:30 to 12:30 at St. Mary Catholic Church on Tuesday prior to the funeral Mass. Memorials to Fairfield High School wrestling program may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 409 E. Adams, Fairfield 52556.
