Doris M. Turner, 84, 2437 Highway 34 East, died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005 at Parkview Care Center.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, with the Rev. James Wotherspoon officiating. The casket will be open from 10-10:30 a.m. prior to the service.

No family visitation is planned, but the register may be signed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. Online condolences may be left at www.behnerfh.com

Mrs. Turner was born Jan. 18, 1921, in Bigtimber, Mont., the daughter of Walter and Grace A. Rider Hanks. She married Harold L. Turner April 29, 1939, in Memphis, Mo. He died Oct. 4, 1977.

Mrs. Turner worked as a nurses aide at Jefferson County Hospital for 13 years and retired in 1983. She was an avid quilter whose pastimes included crocheting, embroidery and needlework as well as spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include four sons, James Turner and wife Mary of Ottumwa, John Turner and wife Barbara of Colorado Springs, Colo., William Turner and wife Marilyn of Fairfield and Robert Turner and wife Cheri of Waukon; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dick Turner; one sister, Gladys Mullikin; and one brother, Chester M. Hanks.
