Two area men were killed in a one-car accident Friday one mile west of Stockport on J-16.
Victor J. "Bub" Mallinger Jr., 42, of Fairfield died at the scene. Michael Douglas Roe, 27, of Fairfield was transported by AirCare to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City where he died Saturday.
According to an Iowa State Patrol report, Roe was driving a 2002 Pontiac Firebird eastbound on J-16 at a high rate of speed at 8:15 p.m. Friday when he lost control of the vehicle. It rolled several times, then came to rest on its top in a pasture on the southside of the road.
A graveside service for Mallinger will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. No visitation is planned, and no flowers are requested. Memorials may be made to the Mallinger family.
Mallinger is survived by his sons, Royce and Dustin; his mother, Violet "Vicky" Mallinger; and his sister Theresa.
The funeral for Roe is set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation, with family present, is set from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Raymond Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to Roe's children, Katie and Anthony "A.J."
