Joe E. Huffman, 62, of Keosauqua, died at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Christian Church in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating. Burial of his urn will be at Purdom Cemetery in Keosauqua.

Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at Behner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Center Village Care Facility of Keosauqua, Abate of Iowa Downed Biker Fund or to the family care of Connie Huffman, 1208 Sixth St., Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. Huffman was born Feb. 1, 1943, in Keosauqua, the son of Wilbur and Lucille Roberts Huffman.

Mr. Huffman lived all his life in the Van Buren County area. He graduated from Van Buren High School with the class of 1961. He was an electrician and telephone technician for Iowa Telecom.

He was a member of Abate of Iowa, District 14, of which he was formerly the Van Buren County coordinator. He was an instructor in the Share the Road program and a former member of the State Line Rally Board. His pastimes included fishing, hunting, airplanes, riding his Harley-Davidson, gardening and writing poetry.

Survivors include three daughters, Teresa Ann Jimenez and husband Francisco of Montrose, Connie Jo Huffman and Karen Kristine Justice of Keosauqua; five grandchildren, Jacob and Kelsey Justice, Kensee and Dawson Dunn and Patrick Jimenez; two brothers, Jim Huffman of Eldon and Jerry Huffman of St. Louis, Mo.; and special friend, Leigh Curtis of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty Arnold; and two brothers, Donald and Jack Huffman.
